We look forward to welcoming you to our Alchemy: Imagination and Initiation Workshop, which will be facilitated by two of the leading alchemists in the world today – Dennis William Hauck and Steve Kalec.
9:00 am to 12:00 pm
“True Imagination in Alchemy” – Dennis William Hauck
The experimental act in alchemy is fundamentally different from the mundane laboratory work of modern scientists. In their experiments, alchemists place themselves at the center of a creative process that seeks nothing less than the union of psyche and matter. The goal of the Great Work is precisely this union, which is known variously as the Royal Marriage, the Unus Mundus (One World), or the Philosopher’s Stone.
The work begins in an image that embodies the possibilities of a new level of being. This living image, sometimes called the Child of the Philosophers, transcends consensus reality by uniting opposing potentials before they actualize. This crucial initial step takes place in the implicate order of imagination and not in the explicate order of the everyday world.
In this workshop, we will explore how alchemists use what Paracelsus named the "True Imagination" to create a powerful tool connecting mental theory and physical practice. This catalytic breakthrough leads to the precipitation of the Philosopher’s Stone, which is the attainment of a level of intentionality that bridges the voluntary action of mind with the involuntary actions of nature.
To get a better understanding of how a person’s common imagination can grow to encompass the greater reality, we will be reviewing the work of Dante Alighieri and Carl Jung in an interactive multimedia presentation.
Dennis William Hauck is a researcher, author, and lecturer in consciousness studies. His primary focus is on levels of awareness and the mechanisms of transformation of consciousness. He works to document the evolution of a science of consciousness and merge various philosophical and scientific traditions into a unified theory of consciousness. He has also contributed to related areas, including the history of science, psychology, and the serious study of paranormal and mystical experiences. He is considered a leading authority on Alchemy and Hermeticism.

“The Initiatic Potentials of Alchemical Operative Work” – Steve Kalec
This presentation provides examples that will express the mastering of the alchemical art as being an Initiatic Path opening the portals of realization into a higher understanding of the alchemical process. Once realized, the initiate will see it everywhere around him as his world is transformed. In the operative laboratory work, the vigilant alchemist knows that at all times it is he or she that is in the crucibles, boiling flasks and retorts as the spiritual and corporeal forces converging through sympathetic resonance helping and exalting each other are realized.
A most wonderful majesty on the volatilization of the fixed Tartarus salts will be expounded on with pictures depicting the steps of an accomplished work, revealing nature‘s Arcanum in the conversion of the common into the more noble as will be seen in the alchemical preparation of a glorified elixir.
Correspondences with the inner alchemical process will be seen as the outer alchemical modus operandus is transposed inwardly revealing the Universality of the alchemical process.
Steve Kalec, a mystic, a Grand Councilor of AMORC, a member of the Traditional Martinist Order a practicing alchemist, and a lecturer. Steve`s Jungian studies led him to understand the alchemical process as being a universal one throughout all aspects of being. This realization has led him to the study and practice of operative laboratory alchemy. He has studied practical alchemy with the Philosophers of Nature and has followed Manfred Junius through his many European alchemy courses. Steve believes that all aspects of alchemy complement each other in the study and practice of the Great Work.
